I very much welcome another opportunity to update you on the steady progress that our Bank is making towards achieving its strategic goal of  ecomin  Ghana’s leadin  retail  an .
Indeed, an eventful year has passed and a new one has begun and I’m pleased to let you know that we have remained focused in the execution of our strategies, especially leveraging on consolidated gains made in 2018 after the banking sector cleanup, to navigate our way in posting a strong per ormance.
Durin  the year, we too  decisive measures to ensure we remained agile and competitive against macro uncertainties and a rapidly changing re ulatory re ime.  e made  ood pro ress on three key imperatives:
 1  Enhancin   alance sheet efficiency and profit retention throu h effective lia ility management;
 2  De ris in  our loan port olio throu h robust management strategies; and
(3) Increasing retail market share and expanding our sources of cheaper funding while levera in  innovation and technolo y.
Throughout the year, we also connected our customers to opportunities; we supported our customers to fortify their businesses through a stron  capital and  undin  position. In turn, their loyalty to the brand ensured we delivered sustaina le returns and value to our shareholders.
Business Review
Our  usinesses recorded increased profits  y playin  to our financial stren ths in a competitive operatin  environment.  e delivered a stron  per ormance  y recordin  profit  e ore tax o  G  220million a ainst G   2million in 201 .  he over 206 percent growth in operating income was largely a result of an improved asset and liability management, which contributed GHS74 million to the Bank’s non-interest income growth and a si nificant increase o  more than 20  in lia ility  eneration.

We are delighted by the marked improvements and the new world of synergies we are creating to build on our past successes. Our a ility to meet and or surpass our targets depends on our being able to help our customers manage present challenges and capture the opportunities that unquestionably exist.
