Prof Dodoo-Arhin

Professor Dodoo-Arhin is a highly accomplished materials engineer, academic, and sustainability advocate with over 15 years of experience in higher education, research, and corporate governance. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Ghana, where he provides strategic oversight on sustainability initiatives and leads multidisciplinary research and innovation programs that connect academia with industry.


A Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Ghana, Professor Dodoo-Arhin has made significant contributions to research in energy sustainability, circular economy, and green technologies. His academic career spans teaching and leadership roles such as Head of Department, Associate Professor, and Senior Lecturer. Prior to his current roles, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at both the University of Cambridge’s Graphene Centre in the United Kingdom and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.


Prof. Dodoo-Arhin’s work in materials engineering and sustainable energy systems has earned him recognition as a thought leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable finance. His research output includes over 100 peer-reviewed publications with notable citation indices across leading academic databases such as SCOPUS and Google Scholar.


He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Trento, Italy, an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Ghana, a Postgraduate Diploma in Science Education from the University of Cape Coast, and a BSc in Physics (Hons) from the same institution.


Beyond academia, Prof. Dodoo-Arhin has consulted on sustainability frameworks and environmental governance, including projects with KPMG Ghana on developing national standards for PET recycling. His expertise spans Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, stakeholder engagement, and strategic leadership, making him a strong fit for guiding Access Bank’s sustainability and governance agenda.


He serves on numerous boards and scientific committees both locally and internationally, including the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, African Materials Research Society, African Academy of Sciences, and ARUA–Guild of European Universities Clusters of Excellence on renewable energy.


Professor Dodoo-Arhin’s appointment brings to Access Bank Ghana a blend of academic rigor, ethical leadership, and deep expertise in sustainability and governance that aligns with the bank’s vision of driving sustainable and inclusive growth.


He resides in Ghana and was appointed to the Board of Access Bank (Ghana) Plc on 3rd October 2025.
