Nana Kwabena Afoom

Executive Director, Wholesale Banking

Nana Kwabena Afoom is a senior banking executive with over 24 years of progressive experience in banking. He is widely recognized for his expertise in business development, relationship management, and delivering strong profitability in highly competitive environments.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Director for Wholesale Banking at Access Bank (Ghana) Plc, Nana served as Divisional Head of Corporate Banking at GTBank, where he led corporate banking strategy, portfolio growth, profitability, and risk management.

Over the course of his career, Nana has held several senior leadership roles, including Group Head of SME Banking, Regional Head of Retail Banking, and Branch Head positions. His experience reflects a steady progression through critical business and leadership functions.

He has contributed significantly to governance and strategic decision-making as a member of key executive committees, including EXCO and ALCO, and has served as a management representative on the Board Credit Committee.

Nana holds an MSc in International Economics, Banking & Finance from Cardiff Business School and a BSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana. He has also completed extensive executive training in leadership, risk management, ESG, corporate governance, and digital transformation, including the McKinsey Executive Leadership Program.
