We strive towards increased health awareness through our efforts in commemorating World Health days with initiatives such as: free testing, medication, counselling and consultation, symposia, conferences, walkathons, community engagements, and media campaigns, which are executed locally and across the country to increase the knowledge and awareness of the community on different health-related issues. We engage all our valuable stakeholders through various platforms in order to completely understand their needs and expectations.
These findings influence our plans and decisions for strategic health initiatives for implementation. Through our several partnerships and collaborations for innovative health interventions such as: awareness creation and sensitization on: Sickle Cell, Diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Cancer, Obstetric Fistula amongst other health related challenges, we have been able to provide sustainable solutions to the health challenges faced by the underprivileged.
In July 2014, Access Bank unveiled the “W” initiative to accelerate a new and stronger wave of hitherto scanty female entrepreneurs in Nigeria. In addition to financial inclusion and liberation, the “W” initiative is a one-stop center of all Access Bank’s women empowerment offerings. Some of these include capacity building programs, mentoring programmes, and maternal health services, all aimed at helping to build a bigger, stronger and more sustainable society.
Under the “W” initiative, participating women and their families have access to a wide range of opportunities. These opportunities include access to loans and credit facilities; access to the “W” community in which they can get insights concerning managing finance and increasing productivity. The “W” community also provides women with access to information about several value-adding special offers for the home, specially discounted offers and freebies on health, beauty and fitness.
The “W” initiative hosts our maternal health service support (MHSS), through which Access bank supports local and international treatments for fertility, child delivery, paediatric care, Cancer treatment and other specialized procedures such as fibroid treatments, dental & optical surgeries, bariatric (weight loss) and orthopaedic treatments.
Women can access the MHSS Loan within 72 hours and loan applications are also acceptable from spouses or 3rd party sponsors to support a woman/child in need of medical care.
“W” is all about raising, grooming and sustaining – in our communities – a continuing generation of women that are inspired, healthy, connected and empowered. It is Access Bank’s commitment to banking women.
All of these exciting initiatives are hosted on the “W” initiative website,
www.thewcommunity.com, an online community for Access women.
